NEW
MAUSOLEM ADDITION
Holyrood
Cemetery is pleased to announce the completion of
its new Atrium addition to the Garden Mausoleum
complex.
UPRIGHT
MONUMENTS
In 1954, when Holyrood was designed, the trend in memorialization was away from upright monuments, with an emphasis on flush or "grass" markers to memorialize the deceased. After many requests for upright monuments by the families we serve, a long term development plan was created. A new section allowing upright monuments was created in 1989, including lots for flush markers also. An open design was used to allow for easier maintenance and a non-crowded look.
FAMILY ESTATES
Since 1993, the staff of Holyrood has collaborated in the design of several "Bench Monuments". Installed into flowerbed areas these "Family Estates" consist of two or more grave spaces. Many of the monument designs include a prayer or verse from scripture, which are carefully chosen to provide solace and comfort to those who visit here.
GODS ACRE
WALKWAY

The center of Holyrood cemetery includes two large burial sections, that received many of the earliest interments here. Located in front of the central Chapel Mausoleum, these older sections are referred to as "God's Acre", from the original dedication by Archbishop Connolly in 1954. God's Acre Walkway includes both flush memorial graves as well as family estate bench lots. Cherry trees lining the walkway and the gardens at each end enhance the landscape. The focal point is a nine-foot tall statue of the risen Lord.
RESURRECTION
WALKWAY

The center of Holyrood cemetery includes two large Bronze statues. The Risen Christ facing north in God's Acre, and the Pieta, modeled after Michaelangelo's renowned sculpture, facing south in the newly developed sections. These sections, Our Mother of Compassion and Lamb of God offer upright monument and flush memorial opportunities. The graves, facing north, overlook Lake Ballinger. Resurrection Walkway joins the Pieta statue and the statue of the Risen Christ. Family estates with monubenches line the walkway. The statue of the Pieta rests upon a granite-faced columbarium, providing cremation niche spaces for permanent memorialization. To the east of the Risen Christ statue and just north of the road in Lamb of God section, is the site of the new Angel Columbarium. When completed, a bronze angel will point to the Risen Christ with the proclamation "He is Not Here, He Is Risen". Like the Pieta, the angel will rest upon a granite-faced columbarium.
CREMATION
SPACES
Cremation in the Catholic tradition has only been allowed since 1965. This choice of disposition is being chosen by an increasing number of Catholics who use our cemeteries. To provide for the growing number of cremation burials at Holyrood Cemetery, we have recently completed new ground burial spaces and above ground niches for the placement of cremated remains.
Our new Cremation Courtyard, provides interment spaces that are 3 ft. by 3 ft. square, which allow for a standard 28"x16" flush marker for memorialization. The new grave spaces surround a central plaza which includes a granite and bronze sculpture of the risen Christ. The courtyard is enhanced by four planters and four memorial benches that provide an opportunity for a cenotaph inscription, memorializing those who may not be buried here.
In our indoor Chapel Mausoleum is the location of our new Chapel Niche Columbarium. Located in the main chapel area, the two niche units are made of bronze and faced with etched glass, and are trimmed with Paradisio marble to match the existing mausoleum crypts. Interior track lighting and a personal flower vase are included with each niche.
PRE-ARRANGEMENT
Making cemetery decisions
can be a great additional burden, when left to the
surviving family members. In fact, the death of a
loved one is a tragic experience that will visit
all of our families at some future time.
Most families will find
themselves ill prepared to deal with the problems,
indecision's and costs which are forced upon them
by death. Your Catholic Cemetery is here for you,
to assist in making these decisions, hopefully
long before the time of need. Of course,
pre-arrangement makes good economic sense, but the
most compelling reason to plan now, is the love
you have for your family, and your desire to
protect them from any unnecessary hardship at a
time of sorrow. .
"We planned our wedding.
We planned our family.
We planned our vacations.
We planned our children's
education."
"There is just one other
important family matter that we need to plan, and
we wouldn't want to leave that to anyone else"
If these are your
thoughts and feelings, why not
inquire of your Catholic Cemetery, how you can
take care of all cemetery costs in advance.
